I was born, raised and studied in Berlin, but my very first real contact with yoga was in 1990 in Los Angeles. There I then worked as a stylist on music videos, commercials and films and as a designer and pattern cutter in downtown LA’s garment industry. I clearly remember the feeling I had in my first yoga class, it was like ‘coming home’… Yoga gave me the much needed calm, peace and balance I felt I needed to cope with the daily demands, busy LA life style and emotional ups and downs thrown at me. From then on yoga was my haven, sanctuary, retreat… somewhere I felt happy, safe, grounded and connected. I started practising at home and went to all the yoga classes I could go to while not at work and it was bliss! I then decided to embark on yoga teacher training in 2000 here in the UK after the birth of my second child and I have been teaching yoga passionately ever since 2001.
I qualified as a Diploma Yoga Teacher in 2002 with Ruth White/ Karuna Yoga (member of Yoga Alliance US, 500 training hrs) and hold a Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga. I am also a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course Tutor and certified Dynamic Flow (Hot) Yoga Teacher; Yin Yoga Teacher (trained with one of the yin/yang pioneers, Sarah Powers in 2005); Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Pre/Post Natal Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist (Biomedical Trust/Life Centre). I have been awarded the AQA accredited Advanced Certificate in Counselling and I am a Reiki Master, Trainer level. I am CRB checked and work with families, children, teenagers and teach classes at Secondary Schools (Tiffin Girl’s School). I recently received my Diploma in Chakra Dancing.
My teaching style has greatly been influenced and inspired by my training with world renowned teachers like Sarah Powers, Donna Farhi, Shiva Rea, Dona Holleman, Aadil Palkhivala, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Alexander Filmer-Lorch, Simon Low and of course Ruth White and Judith Richards. I have been a student of many yoga traditions, from Sivananda, Kundalini, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Iyengar to Hot Yoga and over the years my teaching has evolved into MuMu Yoga, a mix of Hatha, Iyengar and slow, mindful Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Yin, connecting breath and movement in a flowing sequence with emphasis on core stability and overall strength, fluidity and flexibility with natural, fluid, pulsing movements. I also often weave more calming Yin Yoga and restorative poses into my sessions to heal sites of tension and stress, allowing body and mind to return to perfect health and balance.
I am very passionate and wholehearted about yoga and teaching it and it brings me great joy to pass on to my students what has been so beneficial and incredibly life changing and empowering for me, making me stronger, healthier, more confident, happy and fulfilled.
Apart from teaching Yoga, Meditation and Chakra Dancing, I also offer private ‘Yoga Counselling’, a form of Yoga Therapy or Life Coaching, which is designed to help people through major life changes and physical, mental/emotional and spiritual challenges. After an initial meeting and open talk, I use the healing modalities of Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness, Breathing, Mantra, Chant, Reiki/Divine Healing and Law of Attraction techniques to help my clients cope with whatever they are going through. Meetings are completely confidential and non judgemental.
My deepest gratitude and eternal love goes to all my great teachers, masters and gurus, alive and in spirit, who have throughout the years inspired and supported me on my life and yoga journey towards light, love and happiness.
